Public meeting on how town centre cash is spent
Residents of Pitlochry are being urged to attend a public meeting on Sunday and have a say in how money is spent on the town centre.
A sum of £383,000 has been earmarked by the Scottish Government to be allocated to Perth and Kinross Council for town centre regeneration in
Pitlochry.
But MSP John Swinney has written to PKC calling for consultation with residents on how to spend the cash that is coming via the local authority.
The Pitlochry and Moulin Community Council has been asking for a public discussion on the options for an area in the conservation zone in the centre of Pitlochry since before its December meeting.
So to facilitate community input, the local Highland ward councillors have arranged an opportunity for the public to come along to an event in the Atholl Centre, Pitlochry on Sunday, February 9 between 3pm and 6pm to give their thoughts on the two potential options.
In the previous meeting of Pitlochry and Moulin Community Council, there was some“negative” feedback from“key stakeholders”regarding the primary plan for town centre redevelopment, a civic space in the town’s Atholl Road.
Following this, it was agreed to explore the reserve project which would create a tourism and culture hub in the underutilised council office building.
Community member Isobel Millar spread Sunday’s consultation event details on social media:“I can’t stress enough how important it is to go along to view proposed plans. Have your say and please leave your feedback on Sunday.”
