Care home residents receive excellent support
Inspectors found residents of a Perth care home were receiving “excellent” support from staff during an unannounced visit earlier this month.
The Care Inspectorate assessed standards at Strathtay House in the city’s Harley Place on February 6, and has now awarded staff the highest possible marks for the standard of care shown to residents.
The home is registered to provide long-term and short stay residential care to a maximum of 40 older people and comprises two units: a larger Purple Heather Unit and a smaller Daffodil Unit for people with specialist dementia needs.
The inspectorate said in its report on the HC-One run facility: “We heard very positive comments indeed from the professionals we met who told us that staff were proactive, communicated well and followed up on any care tasks without delay.
“We heard of excellent examples whereby early staff intervention had meant that residents’ mental health in particular, had not deteriorated due to the responsiveness of the staff team.
“Other observations from professionals were that staff worked really well together, and as many of the staff had worked in the home for a number of years, they knew the residents needs very well, and how to respond to these needs.
“We heard that the care in the evenings was every bit as good as during the day.
“This also meant residents received consistent care due to the relationships they had with the staff who supported them.”
