New furniture shop will fund great causes
A charity which aims to fight homlessness and food waste has opened a furniture shop in Perth.
Transform Community Development has taken over the former Mona Lisa shop at 226 High Street, and opened up to the public earlier this week.
David Nicoll from the charity says he is delighted to be opening up the shop, particularly as so many other big names and independent businesses have closed in Perth recently.
He said: “We are a charity, furniture reuse store and we offer low cost furniture to people as well as diverting good furniture from landfill.
“It is great we are able to open up just as other shops are closing down in Perth.
“We are a charity based in Dundee, but we also cover Perth too.
“This new shop in Perth will support a whole host of activities we do.”
Transform Community Development is no stranger to Perth - it had previously operated out of a unit on the corner of Scott Street and Canal Street until a few months ago.
David is hoping the new location will be even more successful.
He continued: “We have had a shop here in Perth for about 10 years, but we had been looking to move in to a more suitable location.
“We are just going all of the touch ups and filling up with stock at the moment.
“We also collect donations free of charge as well if there are people who want to get rid of their old furniture.
“We sell a whole range of domestic furniture, such as sofas, coffee tables, dining tables, wardrobes and beds.
“And we are looking to make sure people have plenty of choice when they come in here as well as getting quality.

He added: “I am really itching to get going with this new shop.”
