ROAD RUNNERS

-

Perth Road Runners were involved in an unusually quiet week.

But Crawford Watson did manage to represent the club at the Kirkintilloch 12.5k race on Sunday.

Conditions on the day - the wind was howling - made the undulating route more of a challenge compared to most years.

Crawford, however, still managed to sneak under the hour mark and crossed the finish line in a time of 58 minutes and 22 seconds.

Despite a number of Scottish parkruns being cancelled due to the weather, the Perth club’s parkrun tourists were still out in force.

Finlay Dale was the club’s sole representative at Plean, completing the hilly trail course in 29:30.

Natalie King ran Strathclyde parkrun in a time of 23:35, Garry Smith finished second at University of Stirling in 19:28 while Caroline Malloy completed the same course in 31:24.

At Ruchill, Mark Dunn ran 21:08, Paul Grace 21:53 and Daile Sipple 26:37. South of the border, Louise Waywell ran Pennington Flash parkrun in 29:06 and finished first in her age category.

Across the pond, two PRRs took part in different parkruns in the USA. Jenny Shilton ran Rock Creek parkrun in Portland, Oregon and finished the course in 31:56. Also in the north west, Maria Dale was the first female finisher at Des Moines Creek parkrun in a time of 27:56.

Back at home, Storm Dennis made an appearance at Perth parkrun, which resulted in a slightly lower turnout than normal.

However, 29 Perth Road Runners still braved the wet and windy conditions with Kevin Riddell the first member home in 17:56, closely followed by Campbell Hay in 18:07 and Kevin Rogers in 19:18.

Erni Hamilton was first female member to cross the line in a time of 22:20, followed by Gillian Edwards in 22:24 and Fiona Manson in 24:30. at the Tayside Regional Final 2020.

Active Schools co-ordinator Nicholas Keiller said: “Congratulations to Crieff Primary School’s squad ‘A’ and ‘B’ on their success and good luck for the regional finals at the end of February.”
