Dewar arrival adds to selection headache
Luncarty boss Robbie Holden is pleased with his squad selection headache at present.
The Bleachers last week introduced midfielder Keith Dewar to Brownlands Park which has added further competition for places.
Dewar is a former Jeanfield Swifts player and Holden was delighted to acquire his services for the remainder of the season.
“Adding Keith has given us a good problem as the squad is getting very competitive,”Holden explained to the PA.
“He is an experienced player who won player of the year at Jeanfield.
“He will give us an extra edge with his battling qualities for the remainder of the season.
“I’m hopeful of another big signing this week and we are looking to include him in the squad for Saturday’s game.
“The squad should be full strength, minus Callum Kirkaldy who is suspended.”
Luncarty, weather-permitting, are in East Region Cup acton away at Bo’ness United Juniors on Saturday afternoon.
Holden has warned that his defence will need to be sharp from the first whistle to keep tabs on Bo’ness forward Darren Gribben.
Bo’ness Juniors ply their trade in the East Region’s South Premier League and currently sit second bottom of the table having picked up 19 points from 22 games.
But Holden still expects a tough time when the teams meet and said: “Bo’ness have a lot of young players, recently signed with senior experience so I expect them to be energetic and enthusiastic.
“I watched their game against Newburgh last Saturday so know what they are capable of.
“They also have a familiar face in Darren Gribben up top who will be very dangerous.”
Luncarty legs will be fresh, with their North Super League match at Downfield called off last week because of a waterlogged pitch.
“We had a day off on Saturday as we trained hard indoor twice last week,”Holden said. “So we wanted to give the team a break.
“It’s very frustrating when you prepare a team and do the homework only for the weather to beat the game.
“We offered a switch of venue but Downfield declined the offer.”
