Scone Thistle Juniors are on the hunt for a new manager.

Sean Whitworth stepped down from his position last week but is hoping to remain involved with the club.

Now chairman Derek Adam and the committee are welcoming applications for the Farquharson Park job.

“Sean has had a change in circumstances with his work and personal commitments,” Adam explained to the Perthshire Advertiser.

“It has resulted in him advising us of his need to step back from managing the team.

“However, he is keen to remain involved in the club in some capacity.

“He has enjoyed his time at Scone Thistle since moving from Brechin Vics five seasons ago.

“We start the process again of appointing someone we feel is the right fit for managing the team and will work well with the club and committee.

“The club has grown immensely over recent years with the Junior team at the end of the player pathway for our community club teams to aspire to.

“As a community club we continue to give players a chance to make the transition from youth football and to train and play alongside experienced Junior players.

“We continue to strive to grow, to be better and to be a positive group within the community.”

Scone, who are in East Region Cup action at Tayport this weekend, sit eighth in the North Super League.

They have been on a poor run of results but Adam is backing the squad to find their early season form.

“There is everything still to play for this season,” he told the PA.

“And, after a resilient performance away from home last week to a very good Broughty Athletic side, we hope to build on this over the remainder of the season.”
