School is up for a top award
Two major construction projects in Perth have been nominated for community awards.
Both Bertha Park High School and Perth Transport Futures’Crieff Road redevelopment have been shortlisted by the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for a social impact award.
Each project will be judged and voted on by a panel of experts based on its role in transforming the community and people’s everyday lives.
Stuart Clyde, head teacher at Bertha Park High School, said the new high school on the edge of Perth was having a huge impact on the local community.
He said:“We were fortunate enough to pick-up an award for our digital learning last year, but this nomination is focused more on the positive contribution we have as a school towards the wider community, both locally and beyond.
“We’ve already felt the international impact of our digital approach to learning, as we are regularly invited to tell the school’s story at conferences all around the world.
“However, it is locally that we are striving to make the greatest impact.
“Not only in the lives of the families the school serves, but to the wider learning communities around Perth and Kinross where we can share our experiences, both good and bad, and perhaps help to change how other young people engage with their learning.
“This nomination is a result of the fabulous work undertaken not only by our school staff, but by our partners - NORR Architects, Robertson Group and Hub East Central.”
The winner will be announced at the RICS Scotland ceremony on Thursday, April 23.
