Theatre’s appeal for community cast

-

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is on the hunt for a community cast to join the professionals on stage acting as competitors and spectators at a dance competition.

After an acclaimed stage performance of‘North and South’ last year, the theatre is once again looking for potential performers, aged over 18.

This time they must get their dancing shoes on and be ready to dance the waltz, tango, foxtrot and jive as Pitlochry does‘Strictly’.

‘Kiss Me Quickstep’, Amanda Whittington’s heart-warming, funny and dramatic story focused around a national amateur championship in Blackpool’s ballrooms, opens on June 12 and runs until October, with rehearsals starting in April.

For anyone aged 18 or over who fancies performing on the Pitlochry main stage, Caitlin Skinner, associate director at Pitlochry, and director for Kiss Me Quickstep would love to see them at a workshop on either Saturday, February 29 from 4pm-6pm or Sunday, March 1, 11am-1pm.

Caitlin advised:“Those with dance experience, and particularly ballroom/Latin American dance, are encouraged to take part, but it is not required and all are welcome.

“There’s no need to prepare anything, those coming along will always be dancing and acting in pairs or groups – so you won’t have to perform alone (unless you want to) - but please wear clothes you can move around in comfortably.”

More information about the show, the rehearsal and performance schedule, is available, and will be given at the workshop.

To register for one of the workshops and for more information, email kay.hesford@ PitlochryFestivalTheatre.com giving contact details.
