SCAA crew go island hopping

-

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) continues to provide a lifeline to the islands with flights to Mull and Arran featuring on the past week’s mission log.

A woman required an urgent transfer to mainland hospital care after a fall on Mull.

SCAA quickly flew her to Crosshouse Hospital at Kilmarnock, saving a lengthy road and ferry alternative journey.

The same speed and comfort was brought to bear when an urgent transfer request took the crew to Arran - again airlifting a patient to Crosshouse Hospital on the mainland for advanced care.

SCAA paramedics flew to assist at the scene of a serious road traffic collision near St Cyrus in Angus, working with colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland.

The charity’s rapid response vehicle has also been in action during the past week, attending emergencies in Blairgowrie and Perth.

Although the RRV does not transport patients, it allows SCAA paramedics to reach the scene of local emergencies as quickly as possible.

And a Blairgowrie supporter donated a further £40 this week to support the air ambulance operations.

Bereaved families continue to show their support for the work SCAA does across the whole of Scotland by donating funeral collections to the charity.
