Youth footie off as Muzz sends message
Saints’ head of youth Alistair Stevenson
St Johnstone’s youth academy training sessions are suspended until further notice because of the coronavirus situation.
The Perth club has made the decision following recommendations from the Scottish FA and, therefore, all group or conditioning training is off. Saints’head of youth development Alistair Stevenson said:“In light of the current circumstances surrounding the coronavirus in this country our academy sessions have been suspended.
“Obviously it’s disappointing but the health and wellbeing of the kids and their parent/ guardians is more important.
“We will keep the kids and their parents/guardians updated as soon as we have more information on when training and matches can resume.”
The first-team squad also remain away from McDiarmid Park and are following their own training programmes as per instructions from the management team.
Long-serving midfielder Murray Davidson did voice a message to fans on Tuesday.
He said:“I know this is a worrying time for everyone, with everything that is going on with the coronavirus. Health is our most important thing.
“Please look after your friends and family, and follow all the government guidelines regarding washing your hands and having good hygiene.
“As players we hope to be out there as soon as possible. Hopefully you will be back cheering us on as soon as possible. Until then, take care.”
