Video pitches Perthshire to American ‘millennials’
A new tourism video from a Seattlebased travel blogger is pitching the benefits of Perthshire to‘millennial’ visitors from America.
Perthshire adventures take centre stage in the latest VisitScotland digital partnership set to inspire the £94 million US millennial visitor market.
Dewar’s Distillery, Elcho Castle and Ballintaggart Farm are among the attractions which feature in a new short film produced by the national tourism organisation and global travel website Matador Network.
Allison Anderson, a Seattle-based travel blogger, spent four days in the region exploring some Year of Coasts and Waters-themed attractions and destinations, from canoeing along Loch Tay to dram tasting and gorge walking with her Edinburgh-born husband.
Allison said:“I’ve been to Scotland a few times in the past with my husband, but this was my first time exploring Perthshire and it was absolutely wonderful. The rolling green hills of Scotland are picturesque, and the area has so much to offer.
“There were so many highlights, but my favourite experience was visiting the cooking school at Ballintaggart Farm - the property is stunning, and the food was incredible.”
The couple are shown at The Taybank in Dunkeld, the Birks of Aberfeldy, Dewar’s Distillery, Elcho Castle, Ballintaggart Farm, sightseeing at Loch Tay, Beyond Adventure, Nae Limits, the Kenmore Hotel and the Falls of Bruar.
The film is part of the wider‘Only in Scotland’marketing drive to shine a spotlight on the country’s unique experiences and push for more sustainable growth of the industry.
The USA remains the largest international inbound visitor market for Scotland, with one in 10 of those visits made by millennials (those aged 16-34, also referred to as Generation Y).
Research shows US millennials are more likely to visit outside of the summer season compared to older US travellers.
Caroline Warburton, regional leadership director at VisitScotland, said:“We were thrilled to work with Allison and the Matador team on creating a film highlighting the many Year of Coasts and Waters themed adventures which await visitors to Perthshire and Tayside.”
