Brought so much joy

He said:“I am the one that does the shopping. I only go out once a week. I will try and avoid going to the shops as much as I can. I go on a Sunday a bit earlier to avoid people and then come back.

“We are very careful. The last thing I want is for any of us to get infected.

“It is good for me in a sense because I now have a longer paternity leave.

“Normally I would have two weeks, but it is going up to three weeks.

“It could be four or five weeks if the lockdown is extended. It is a good thing but from a bad situation. I can spend more time

Tracy Rennie from Perth sent this picture of her son Tommy Newlands, who was born on April 1 at Ninewells where the staff were“absolutely amazing”- weighing 7lb 15oz with my son.

“There are so many moments I treasure with Tay. Like when I give him a bath or just seeing his smile.

“Just waking up and seeing your kid, it is brilliant.”

Alex’s own family had planned on making the trip to Scotland to see the newest addition to the family, but that now seems unlikely.

“I am from Belgium and my mum was planning on coming over in June, but it looks like she won’t be able to come, which is heartbreaking,”he said.

“I wish my sister and my friends could come but I don’t see any of it happening.

“Of course I am happy for Naomi’s family to come when it is over but it is going to take longer for my family from home to come.”

Naomi cannot wait for Tay to meet the rest of the family, but still thinks many people will be wary of going back to normal straight away.

“I think everyone is going to keep their distance even when the lockdown is over,”she said.

“In my head that is what is going to happen because the virus will still be around so it will be a few months before everything is settled.

“If anybody was to come round first it would be my mum.

“Then my dad and my brothers will wait until lockdown is finished.

“I think they are missing the really small stages.

“By the time they see him he will be a [more grown] person.

“I always ask my mum’s advice on the phone before I ask anyone else.

“One time he wouldn’t sleep and she said to put him in the pram and rock him and he will go to sleep.

“That little two minute tip put him to sleep and I thought‘oh I wish my mum was here’just to share her knowledge.

“Thank goodness we can still phone each other.”
