SNP group thanks key workers for their dedication

- KATHRYN ANDERSON

The council’s SNP group has come forward to thank Perth and Kinross volunteers for their“depth of kindness”in this“increasingly stressful and tough situation.”

The political group has also shown gratitude to Perth and Kinross key workers for their“expertise, dedication and bravery.”

Deputy SNP leader Fiona Sarwar issued the statement on behalf of the group this week.

It said:“There are so many groups and individuals who are all playing an important role in making sure we are protected and looked after at this stressful and difficult time.

“The community and volunteer groups that were set up very early on in this process to provide those self-isolating with essential medication and food have shown the depth of kindness, skill and commitment in our community volunteers. We are so grateful for your efforts.

“For all the key workers, NHS and Perth and Kinross Council staff, we would like to say how grateful we are for your expertise, dedication and bravery.

“For those who carry out caring duties at home we would like to acknowledge your efforts in what has become an increasingly stressful and tough situation.

“Likewise, we understand the sacrifice that our older residents are making by self-isolating and missing out on visits to care homes and sheltered housing. This has been a lonely and isolating time for so many, and our thanks again goes to those groups setting up volunteers to phone around those who are lonely.

“Families who suffer a bereavement at this time have been particularly affected by the current regulations and the cost of grieving remotely will be high. We are grateful for the measurements being taken to stream cremation services and hope this goes some way in helping at this difficult time.

“As a council group we are indebted to all of those in Perth and Kinross who are so carefully sticking to the measures that have been put in place to save lives.

“With the extra time at home, many have been using it to have a clear out, but we would ask that you keep your waste at home as there has been a worrying rise in fly-tipping.”
