TV spot for Feldy-Roo meals and cheer project

-

The Feldy-Roo meals and cheer project for Aberfeldy’s elderly residents sheltering from COVID-19 continues to grow arms and legs and is to appear on UK-wide TV.

The project has expanded both east and west of Aberfeldy, with local businesses joining the town kitchen teams to prepare the lunches and meals. More people have now joined the army of delivery volunteers.

The compassionate initiative’s founder Gavin Price reported that after more than 40 days of operating,Wednesday’s figures for hot meals requested and delivered were“impressive”with numbers hitting a new midweek record:“The Tay Cafe Aberfeldy provided 156 lunches this morning and teamed up with Ballintaggart which made up another 41, to put out 197 lunches.

“Tonight we peaked at over 200 suppers again, with The Fountain Bar and Restaurant producing 156 and Grandtully Hotel by Ballintaggart providing 46 portions of chilli baked potatoes and chicken pies to go round the Aberfeldy and district area.”

Money raised through GoFundMe had passed £22,000 from many individuals and businesses and donations from local businesses, organisations and individuals via cash and cheque totalled at near £5000. Gavin said that Tayside Mountain Rescue Team delivered PPE equipment to Feldy-Roo this week, with 5000 face masks now available for volunteers. “What an amazing gesture from Jonathon Will and team,” said Gavin.

The project has featured already on STV news and next Monday, the BBC’s The One Show’s film team will visit the town to make a TV story on the #FeldyRoo project.
