Some talented Perthshire school kids have had their schoolwork praised publicly by NHS Tayside.

Pupils in primary four at Robert Douglas Memorial School in Scone were set the home learning task of writing a letter to the NHS for the fantastic job they are doing.

Archie Methven and Jack West were both fortunate enough to have their letters and pictures shared on Twitter by NHS Tayside.

Head teacher Mrs Lynne Lambert was delighted to see the pupils’work being so well received.

She told the PA:“So many of the P4 learners wrote really passionately and positively to show their thanks to all those who are currently working on the frontline.

“Both Jack West and Archie Methven in P4 had letters which were retweeted by the NHS official channels and we are really proud of them.

“Many others sent their letters straight to people they knew - these were received with grateful thanks and appreciation, encouraging them in their daily jobs.”

Jack wrote in his letter:“I want to thank you for all your hard work and putting your lives at risk to save others.

“I think you are all amazing and what you are doing right now is heroic. I want to say a great big THANK YOU.”

Archie Methven’s poster and picture was shared on Twitter by NHS Tayside’s chief executive Grant Archibald.

Mr Archibald wrote:“A big thank you to Archie for taking the time to draw us a picture and write us a letter.”

Meanwhile pupils Louise, Amy and Leah wrote directly to their mum’s friend Tina, who works on the COVID ward in Ninewells, thanking her for all her hard work and telling her they were“super proud of her.”

The chief executive has asked children to continue sending in their art work, saying:“Please keep it coming. It really does keep us smiling.”
