Creative energy captured in Strath display
The team behind Strathearn Arts has issued a call for contributions for a new online exhibition capturing the creativity inspired by lockdown.
“We know that under the current restrictions homes around Strathearn have become impromptu artists’ or recording studios, film-makers’ backdrops and hives of creative industry,” explained Phil Mestecky, development manager with the charity based on Crieff ’s Comrie Street.
He continued: “We thought it would be a great idea to capture some of that creative energy in our community into a virtual and subsequently live exhibition for all to share in.”
The exhibition will be open to contributions from all ages. Organisers hope to include all types of creative output, whether it is a piece of writing, a photo, short film, a painting, illustration, drawing, sculpture, collage, a piece of embroidery, garment or accessory, to name but a few.
Phil added: “The arts are a positive influence in our communities, especially in challenging times, and it’s a real encouragement to see what has been created as a response to these exceptional times.”
Meanwhile, like many other arts organisations, Strathearn Arts is looking for new ways to connect with people while its doors are closed.
Parkinson’s Dance classes blazed a trail in moving online to the delight of the dancers and, on June 6, author Tracey Emerson will be leading an interactive writing workshop for those who want to get started with creative writing.
