First all-girl team is set to lead grammar
Schools in Perth and Kinross have revealed their new pupil leadership teams for 2020/21- and one Perth secondary has broken the mould by picking an all-girl group to lead the school next term.
At Perth Grammar School the applications came in as usual nominating both male and female senior pupils.
But staff agreed on eight young women to take the top leadership posts at the school.
The team, consisting of two head girls and six house captains, was revealed in a post on the Perth Grammar Twitter page last week.
It said: “We’re thrilled to announce our pupil leadership team for session 2020-21.
“So looking forward to seeing them build on the legacy of this year’s team.”
The tweet caused a bit of a stir, as it is the first time the school has been completely led by female students.
All S6 pupils were invited to apply for the roles through the annual application process.
Staff from across the school shortlisted the applications and a shortlist of the selected pupils were then interviewed by a panel.
The school’s head teacher is Fiona Robertson and she commented: “This is the first allfemale pupil leadership team at Perth Grammar School.
“We gave the appointments careful consideration and, as with every process, these must be based on the best candidates for the posts.”
The head girls next session will be Daisy Ross and Ishbel Dow, Almond house captains are Megan Crockart and Lauren Wright, Earn house captains are Darcy Munro and Kirsty Perry and finally, Lomond house captains are Isla Chapman and Emma Nicolson.
The head girls will represent the school at various events throughout the year and will lead the team of students appointed to be prefects.
