Broken booze bottles and drugs pouches in PS grounds

- ROBBIE CHALMERS

Local residents were left in shock after broken booze bottles and drug pouches were found in the grounds of a Perthshire primary school.

Mrs Catharine Findlay, head of Auchtergarven Primary in Bankfoot, found three clear plastic bags that are commonly used to carry drugs at the school on Saturday.

Alongside the pouches were broken bottles of MD2020, a spate of litter and other signs of anti-social behaviour.

The clutter of dumped items was discovered in an area that will be used as an“outdoor classroom” when children return to education next month.

The head teacher has asked the police to patrol the property more frequently and said that fencing will be installed to deter any wrongdoers.

Mrs Findlay said:“The outdoor classroom is once again being used inappropriately and mess being left for others to clean up.

“This will become a key space for learning when we return in August and hope to be outdoors more.

“Fencing will be going around it soon and I have asked the police to increase their presence around the school grounds as there is evidence of drug use.

“There is also a lot of glass which I have been unable to clean up.”

One local took to social media to say they had seen a group of individuals on the school grounds in recent times when out walking their dog and that police had arrived and told them to leave the area.

Another passed the school earlier this week on a walk with their kids and saw“a group of six or seven young ones”loitering at the nursery entrance.

A police spokesperson said:“We are aware of anti-social behaviour around the primary school and will be giving the area passing attention.

“Anyone who has any concerns should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
