All action as adventure park created in the Strath

- ROBBIE CHALMERS

Crieff Hydro Hotel officially unveiled a new, custom-built adventure park this week.

The £250,000 Glen’s Adventure Park was due to open in April but its launch was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The virus also had a huge financial impact on the company as last month plans were announced to potentially make 214 staff redundant across the group.

Chief executive Stephen Leckie stated at the time the business was losing £500,000 per month.

However, the new attraction is expected to become a welcome boost for the prominent local employer.

At the heart of Glen’s Adventure Park is a four-storey wooden fort which stands eight metres high and includes four lookouts, climbing walls, crawl tunnels, ladders and clambering spider webs.

The new park also has a trio of 30-metre long racing zip wires, swings, playground games, two inflatable jumping pillows and peddle berg karts.

To ensure the safety of visitors, precautions have been taken to allow the park to reopen – including limiting the number of people being allowed access at any one time, mandatory online pre-booking and hand sanitation and equipment cleaning stations installed within the park.

Richard Leckie is the manager of Action Glen, which already includes a number of activities and is home to the new park in the hotel’s grounds.

He said:“It’s been our ambition for some time to create an impressive adventure park at the centre of Action Glen, so we are delighted to finally open our doors and show our visitors what we’ve been working on.

“We are extremely fortunate to have acres of land that our guests can explore and we hope they agree that our new facility has been well worth the wait.

“After months in lockdown, we’re sure this will be welcomed news for families looking for somewhere to visit that will keep the kids entertained.

“They can relax in a spectacular outdoor environment and have peace of mind that we’ve taken every precaution to ensure a safe and memorable visit.”
