Coupar presson withnew contracts

-

Coupar Angus Juniors have added to their squad in order to provide increased competition for places.

Manager Lindsay Cruickshank has welcomed Jamie Fyfe and Chris Glendinning to the team, while Ross Miller makes a return to the club.

No set-in-stone date has been provided for junior football’s return due to the coronavirus outbreak, but Cruickshank was keen to get business done early.

“Pretty much everyone is staying and we are happy with that,” he told the PA. “We just thought we needed to add a couple of faces to put pressure on the boys who are there.

“Jamie is a striker, Chris is midfield or defence and Ross is defence as well. So they will put pressure on the others.

“It’s hard enough to sign players at the best of times. A lot of players don’t want to say anything because they don’t know what is happening.

“But we do have another couple of boys who we are about to sign.”

A host of last season’s squad have penned new deals at Foxhall Park. Lee Davidson, Lewis Gemine, Sam King, Marc Pattullo, Blaine Duncan, Allan Cruickshank, Ruairidh Smith, Stefan Brown, Dylan Higgins, Tai McCluskey and Andrew Smith have all signed on.

“In the last week to two weeks, a few of the boys have been in doing some oneon-one work,” added boss Cruickshank.

“We have certain boys who have really been hammering their own fitness work.

“There are others who haven’t done as much. But we’ve brought them in for the one-on-one work.

“When we do get back, we’ll be training in groups. We have four coaches, including myself, so we’ll section the players off on the park.”
