Storage firm is bucking trend with expansion

End of lockdown sees demand grow for units

- DOUGLAS DICKIE

A Kinross business has announced an expansion despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Having initially launched in 2014 with 12 self-storage units on Kinross High Street, Webster Storage has confirmed 10 new 20ft units have just arrived on site at Bridgend Industrial Estate.

Moving to its current home in July 2017, Webster Storage offered 46 units suitable for both personal and business customers, but this has now grown to 60, with the new units already fully functional.

Many firms from all over Scotland and the North of England use the storage units as a distribution hub, depositing and collecting stock which is then transported all around the country.

Daniel Webster, who also lists a luxury housing division and a local honey company in his portfolio, said: “We are pleased to now have 60 units which we anticipate will be full very soon.

“Ending the lockdown has brought a flurry of activity, not just from businesses, but from personal customers who are busy waiting for new houses to be built, as they may have had to wait longer due to lockdown changing their entry dates.

“Some customers have had to put their furniture into storage, whilst others simply use the units for items they don’t use all the time.

“We also have people who run a business from home and use them to store stock.

“We started with property customers who wanted flexible short term storage and then moved into the longer lets, as there was clearly demand for it,” said Daniel.

“We wanted to offer a “no tie to monthly contract” deal, as many other companies did, and we felt it was a barrier.

“Bridgend Industrial Estate is the ideal location for the us. It has many other businesses all around, with speedy transport links in and out.”

Daniel is currently working on his group’s new eco-friendly HQ which will also be based in Bridgend Industrial Estate. All of his diverse business interests, from honey hives to ballooning, to construction, will be housed at this location.
