Radio station soon to have new home

- LYNN DUKE

A radio station serving part of Perthshire is a step closer with those behind the exciting idea in the final stages of signing a long-term lease for premises to house the initiative.

Creative Crieff hopes to soon have the keys for space in the High Street, which will become the home of the station and the offices of the community organisation.

And it has been revealed the name of the new station will be Radio Earn serving the Strathearn area.

Creative Crieff’s Elizabeth Bell said they were looking forward to a grand opening once the relevant upgrades to the property had been made.

She said: “Creative Crieff is pleased to announce the name of our new community radio station – Radio Earn: Flowing through the heart of our communities.

“As a community radio station, we will be run primarily with volunteers.

“Creative Crieff is excited to bring this great resource to the local area.”

And ahead of the station taking to the airwaves, Creative Crieff is asking those with the gift of the gab or who enjoy telling stories or sharing music to get in touch through email as the group launches its appeal for volunteer DJs.

Elizabeth added: “We have been delighted with the response so far to our call for DJ’s, but there is still plenty of time to get involved.

“Send us a short email to info@ creativecrieff.org and we will add you to our mailing list for the coming weeks.

“There will be great opportunities for all to be involved as little or as much as they choose.

“We will offer professional training and guidance in all aspects of radio and broadcasting as well as providing guidance and direction on content and programming.

“We will also be reaching out to all the community groups in the entire area.

“The community radio station is a chance for everyone to share their events, publicise the fantastic work that they are doing and celebrate their achievements.”
