Vital hub to get a revamp

-

A housing association has teamed up with support agencies in Perth to provide accommodation for a mental health hub.

The Neuk is a collaborative hub at Anchor House on St Paul’s Square, and Caledonia Housing Association has stepped in to refurbish one of its buildings.

The refurbishment will provide a building to house services led by Anchor House and provided by Andy’s Man Club, Lighthouse for Perth, Women’s Wellbeing Club and Perth City Centre Community Club.

The building refurbishment creates an inviting and multi-functional space with office facilities, a mixture of small and large meeting and consultation spaces with two further fully furnished lounges providing more informal meeting areas.

New kitchen and bathroom facilities along with a new boiler were also installed providing fresh, new essential facilities for the mental health hub.

The hub also has four bedrooms to provide comfortable temporary accommodation for those in need during crisis situations.

Gleneagles Hotel assisted Caledonia Housing Association and Anchor House in the refurbishment by donating furniture from the hotel to complete the redecoration of the building.

Wendy Given, who spoke of the collaboration on behalf of Anchor House, said: “Anchor House would like to convey heartfelt thanks to Caledonia Housing association for sharing our vision for this building. The dedication and commitment to the refurbishment means we now have a wonderful safe space to deliver much needed support.”

Tim Calderbank, customer service director at Caledonia Housing Association, is a keen advocate of partnership working.

He commented: “Caledonia Housing Association is delighted to work with Anchor House to create this innovative mental health hub in Perth.

“Our mission is to provide homes and services that make life better.

“The Neuk as a mental health hub will have a positive impact on the quality of life of those struggling with mental health issues in Perth and the surrounding area embodying the difference a building and collaborative partnership working can have for the greater good.

“We are delighted to have been able to play our part and look forward to continuing to work with Anchor House in maintaining and developing this facility.”
