-

With races slowly making a comeback after lockdown, Perth Road Runners’members have wasted no time in getting their racing fix.

Recently a smaller version of the annual Chilly Willy Beach Race took place at West Sands, St Andrews.

The race lives up to its name by starting on the beach, with a couple of stretches of the course running through the low tide of the North Sea.

With 50 runners starting in 10 groups of five, PRR had five members taking part.

Duncan Ryan was fastest green vest and finished in third place overall in a time of 29:42, which was also good enough to take home the first V50 prize.

Kevin Rogers was not far behind as he finished fifth overall in a time of 30:01, with Richard Hughes clocking 36:33 and Gregor Wells 41:33.

Earlier in August, Daile Sipple and Paul Grace took the opportunity to combine a holiday in the Alps with running a somewhat iconic race.

The Alp d’Huez 21 is an uphill race taking in the famous 21 hairpin bends of the iconic Alpine route, covering a distance of 8.5 miles and 1200m of elevation.

Paul completed the race in one hour, 48 minutes and 34 seconds, while Dale crossed the line in two hours, one minute and 30 seconds.

Back in July, the Scurry to the Sea race took place in Edinburgh.

Starting in the Pentland Hills, runners take in a short hill run before enjoying a downhill route the rest of the way to Musselburgh Beach.

Kevin Rogers finished the 12-mile course in 15th place with a time of 1:25.21, followed by Paul Grace in 1:38.37 and Daile Sipple in 2:09.40.
