Main road to close during five-week works

-

A main road in Scone will face five weeks of phased closures and temporary trafficeasing measures to allow resurfacing works to take place.

From Monday, September 14, Stormont Road will be resurfaced from the A94 Angus Road to the 90-degree bend at the bottom of the road.

Council workers will also be amending the junction at Sandy Road and carrying out preparation works for a puffin crossing that will be installed there at a later date.

During the five weeks temporary traffic signals and phased road closures will be enforced.

The first week, from Monday, September 14, of the project will see a three-way temporary traffic signal at the junction with Sandy Road to allow road reconstruction works.

The second week, from September 21, will see a two-way temporary traffic signal at RDM School to allow puffin crossing preparation works.

That same week will also see a road closure enforced from 8am to 4pm every day between the 90-degree bend to Stormont Way. Then for one week on September 28 a 24-hour closure will be enforced between Stormont Way and Sandy Road.

From October 5 for one week another 24-hour closure will be enforced, this time between Sandy Road and Abbey Road. Then on the final week from October 12 a 24-hour closure will be put in place between Abbey Road and Angus Road.

A PKC spokesperson said: “If the dates of any phases change, this will be communicated to members of the public through road signage and social media releases.

“Diversions will be signed for all road users and access for residents living within the closure extents will be maintained.

“However, please note there may be certain activities on site which may restrict access for short periods.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the inconvenience whilst the works are taking place and to assure you that we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum.”
