St Johnstone striker Chris Kane is planning to rewind the clock and sink Motherwell again.

The Perth forward, now fully recovered from a calf problem, netted a stoppage time winner against the Steelmen last season.

He turned home a Jason Kerr cross to spark wild celebrations and clinch a 2-1 victory at McDiarmid Park in February.

Saints, especially in their most recent fixture against St Mirren, spurned a number of chances but Kane is looking to get on the end of more deliveries supplied by his marauding captain.

“It’s always easy sitting watching the game and thinking you could have got a couple of goals,” Kane told the PA.

“We’re looking good, passing the ball well and creating loads of chances. I do think the goals will come.

“Even in training all of the strikers work well together. No matter who is playing up there, I feel the relationship will be good.

“Jason Kerr has been giving some of the boys stick because he’s putting in some good balls and nobody is tapping them in.

“I’m sure he’ll keep getting onto us if we aren’t scoring them.

“The Motherwell goal was extra special last season. It’s always good to get a last minute goal, the winner.

“Jason is good at making those runs forward and has some engine on him. Hopefully in the games he will continue to do it.

“He’s playing in a position which gives him freedom to get

Aaron Carlon feels signing for Luncarty was the best move for his development in the game.

The young forward had attracted the interest of a number of clubs but decided to pen a deal at Brownlands Park.

Previously of Scone Thistle Juniors, he feels moving to the East of Scotland League will be a great experience and one that can help him improve.

Carlon said:“Luncarty have made a lot of forward and he has been brilliant with it so far.”

Callum Davidson’s Perth Saints head for North Lanarkshire tomorrow to face a Motherwell side who sit bottom of the earlyseason standings.

But Kane said: “I’m not expecting Motherwell to be finishing bottom of the table.

“They’ve had a tough start and the European game as well.

“The way we’ve been playing and preparing, we’re looking good. Everything is positive in training and you can see that in games too.”

Kane insists he is fully fit and raring to go following his frustrating injury hindrance.

“We thought it was just a wee setback at first,” he said.

“I started training but felt it again and had to stay out for longer than expected.

“I felt good coming back into pre-season. I didn’t have injuries through lockdown after all of the running. But maybe all of the hard ground didn’t help. Sometimes you can just be unfortunate and it can be down to bad luck.

“With the new manager coming in, you want to be fit and one of the ones who is standing out. It was the worst time to get the injury.

“The manager has been brilliant and has not been too worried about rushing me back.

“He told me himself that he had calf injuries during his career and knows how to deal with them.

“We’ve made sure it’s 100 per cent and it does feel good now. It was good to come on against St Mirren and then I got 90 minutes in a friendly last weekend.” good signings over the last year and have a very strong team, which I hope I can help add to. I feel it was the next step up for me to improve.

“I really enjoyed my time at Scone and playing there really helped me develop.

“It helped me with the transition from youth football to juniors.

“I think the standard in the East of Scotland League will be very high, but I think we have a squad that can go on to win the league and promotion.

“As a striker I always have targets to get as many goals as possible but mainly it’s about helping the team out as much as I can. Early training has been tough, which is good, as you need to get back fit after the long break.

“I think the manager will be great for me and I’ll take all the advice I can get from him and try to improve. He’s experienced at a good level.”

Bleachers boss Robbie Holden was thrilled to win the race for Carlon’s signature.

“I’m really pleased to get Aaron in,”he

Chris Kane embraces Callum Hendry after scoring the winner the last time Saints met Motherwell explained to the PA.“I’ve been aware of him for a couple of years but saw him closely last year and was very impressed.

“I know he had a number of offers so for him to choose Luncarty is a great indicator of the direction we are looking to go in.

“It took longer than planned to get it done - I joked with him this week that it was like the Messi saga.

“Aaron is direct and very tricky. He can take players on, draw defenders out and can score goals. That’s what we will be looking for him to add.”
