Bowls club and arts hub get COVID cash
SSE Renewables has donated £800,000 to communities in Perth and Kinross as financial relief aid during the pandemic.
The company’s 2019/20 community investment review highlights that the funding decisions are made by panels of local people and that they have invested in a range of services and facilities.
Aberfeldy Bowling Club has received £34,207 to help them refurbish the clubhouse and bowling green to ensure the facilities can be used for years to come.
Workshop and Artists Studio Provision Scotland (Wasps) has been awarded £104,000 to develop the Perth Creative Exchange.
The re-purposing of a derelict primary school aims to support creative talent retention in the region and to bring significant economic development to the sector.
Audrey Carlin, CEO of Wasps said:“The generous funding from SSE Renewables has enabled Wasps to develop Perth Creative Exchange.
“It is a home for artists, makers, creative industry professionals and for the general public to develop and engage with art.
“We look forward to helping Perth’s creative community to flourish with the help of this space.”
The report also shows that SSE Renewables recognised the impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on communities.
And in addition to making £1 million available to communities for emergency responses at the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the company has committed to investing in Perth and Kinross communities in the years to come to“help them build back stronger”.
Jim Smith, managing director of SSE Renewables, said:“We are thankful to community organisations for responding quickly to the coronavirus pandemic and we will continue to provide support as communities recover from this difficult time.”
