Virtual wins for Road Runners

-

Perth Road Runners were forced to cancel the annual Tay Ten and Brig Bash races due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But to keep participants motivated the club’s race committee decided to organise the Virtual Tay Ten, which gave people the opportunity to run a 10k route of their own choosing.

Results were then submitted to the timing company, PB Timing.

With 375 places up for grabs, the road runners were delighted when spaces ran out a couple of weeks before the event started.

At the end of the twoweek window to run 10k and submit results, it was a clean sweep for Perth Road Runners on the men’s podium.

Kevin Riddell won in a time of 35:08, followed by Duncan Ryan in 35:32 and Garry Smith in 37:20.

The top three females were former PRR member Sarah Douglas with a time of 40:47, followed by Jillian Gordon of Kinross Road Runners in 41:40 and Lorraine MacPherson of Perth in 44:00.

There were also prizes in the veteran categories and results were: MV40 – Ronnie Glen (PRR) 38:35.

MV50 – Dave Knight (PRR) 38:20. MV60 – Grant Wooler (PRR) 42:19. MV70 – Bill Duff (Falkland Trail Runners) 53:34. FV40 – Rhona Younger (PRR) 45:43. FV50 – Gillian McGuire (PRR) 45:31. FV60 – Maria Dale (PRR) 53:47. FV70 – Morag Eller (St Cyrus Solos) 1:00:48

A Perth Road Runners’ spokesperson said: “Congratulations to all the winners and to those who completed the challenge.

“We would also like to thank PB Timing for its work in collating all the results and keeping the ‘live leaderboard’ updated throughout the two weeks.”
