Colts kick off support scheme for businesses

Discount initiative by club

Community football club Kinross Colts has launched a new members’ rewards scheme to support the local business community.

The move will also give their players and families the opportunity to save money by shopping locally.

Kinross Colts FC is a registered charity with 15 teams and has over 300 players within their ranks.

Chairman Brian Kenny said that the idea for the scheme came about after seeing how the local community came together to support each other during the COVID lockdown.

“The trustees of the club could see that many of our local businesses were going the extra mile for the community by offering a home delivery service and helping NHS workers,” he said.

“As a club, we wanted to help the local business community by encouraging our players and their families to spend their cash at local businesses and give the Kinross-shire economy a muchneeded boost after the long lockdown.

“We’ve teamed up with eight of our best local businesses who are all offering discounts to our members. We’re sure that the businesses will see a great benefit and we’re delighted to play a small part in boosting our local economy.”

The scheme was launched last week with the club giving new membership cards to all of their players.

The cards can be used to get discounts at The Thistle Hotel, Heaven Scent Coffee Shop and The Wee Barbers in Milnathort and Hunters Butchers, La Casanova Pizzeria, Baillies

Newsagent, The Raj Mahal Indian Restaurant and Tyrefair Tyres, Services & MOTs in Kinross.

Omar Azher of La Casanova Pizzeria said: “As a new business opening just before lockdown, it’s been nice to come together as a community. By being part of the Kinross Colts scheme, we can give a little back to the people who have supported us during these difficult times.”

Pamela Hunter of Hunters of Kinross Butchers also welcomed the scheme, saying: “The Kinrossshire community is brilliant and has supported our own local initiative Kinross Heart Start which has installed public access defibrillators around Kinrossshire.

“Kinross Colts are a great local club who do a lot for the community and we’re delighted to be part of their scheme which will be great for the players and their families and the local businesses.”

The club is happy to give other organisations or businesses help to launch a similar scheme. They can be contacted by email at info@kinrosscoltsfcj.co.uk
