53-year-old denies string of offences toward his ex

- COURT REPORTER

A 53-year-old man has denied a catalogue of controlling behaviour directed against his former partner over a four-year period.

Donald Scott Fraser, formerly of Main Street, Longforgan, is also accused of barricading the door of a cottage in the village’s main street so she couldn’t get into her own home.

It is alleged that he repeatedly monitored his ex-girlfriend’s activity by “constantly texting and telephoning her” when she wasn’t with him, demanding to know where she was, who she was with - and when she would return home.

It is further claimed that he would repeatedly take her mobile phone, demand that she tell him the pass code and monitor her usage. And if he did not approve of who she was contacting, Fraser would confiscate the mobile, according to the charge.

His coercive behaviour, continued, it is alleged, when he took possession of her car, refused to allow her to drive it and insisted that he drive her to and from her workplace.

The final part of that charge states that he barricaded the door of his former partner’s home so she could not get in.

Fraser’s actions are said to have taken place between January 1, 2015, and March 31, 2019, at a house in Longforgan, the SSE Hydro in Glasgow and the Wine Press, Dundee.

A second charge alleges that between April 1, 2019, and August 14, 2020, Fraser engaged in a course of abusive behaviour at the Longforgan location by repeatedly monitoring his ex’s “activity and movement” by repeatedly texting and telephoning her when she was not with him.

It is further claimed that the accused controlled what clothes she wore and what food she ate and that he installed a door bell camera at her home to monitor who visited there - and the conversations that took place.

On March 2, 2020, it is claimed that Fraser pursued the female through the house and “placed her in such a state of fear and alarm” that she barricaded herself in the bathroom.

The accused, now of Broomwell Gardens, Monikie, had a further Perth Sheriff Court hearing fixed for October 15.
