Busiest year yet for team of volunteers coming to the rescue during pandemic
Tay Valley Timebank had its busiest year yet when volunteers from the Aberfeldy district helped out with the pandemic.
Providing shopping, medicines and other essentials to be delivered through the PH15 postcode area, over 70 volunteers gave their time, energy and support to the COVID-19 Support Group, a joint venture between the Birks Cinema Trust, Tay Valley Timebank and Upper Tay Transport.
With the New Year comes a new appointment. Giles Conisbee has been taken on as project coordinator, responsible for the management, coordination and development of the timebank activities.
Giles joins having previously held the position of head of communications with Pitlochry FestivalTheatre.
Cindy Brook, chair of the Tay Valley Timebank, said:“I am thrilled with the appointment. Giles brings on-board considerable marketing, communication, project and development skills.
“The timebank looks forward to working with him to develop its reach and the range of activities we engage in, in our local communities”.
Giles commented: “Timebanking promotes being friendly and helpful towards your neighbours and good citizenship.
“It offers a framework where everyone’s time in the community is equally valued and gives local people the chance to share their skills and time.
“I’ve watched the work of the timebank grow over this past year in particular and I look forward to building on that great foundation with the team and developing the potential for local people to give their time and skills to help others in their community.”
