Glenn is ready to impress

-

Glenn Middleton is grateful for the St Johnstone opportunity that has come his way.

The Rangers winger, who arrived this week on loan until the end of the season, is determined to make the most of his time in Perth.

He was hoisted into the action late in the game on Wednesday for what was his debut in Saints colours.

On the next few months, he said: “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m very grateful for the opportunity the manager has given me.

“It’s down to me now to take it every day, work as hard as I can and hopefully push on from there.

“I felt instant respect from the manager, which is always key as a player. You want someone who buys into you.”

Middleton, known for his pace, gave supporters a flavour of what to expect.

“A constant directness whenever I get the ball,”he revealed.

“Running in behind, being direct, creating chances for others and hopefully getting a few goals as well.”

The 0-0 draw with Aberdeen was by no means a classic but Middleton was impressed with the character shown by his new team-mates.

“It was a tough game,”he said.“There wasn’t too much quality at the start but it’s games like that where you need to stick together.

“The lads stuck together and it’s not always going to be pretty.

“You never know what the point could mean at the end of the season.

“You’d be regretting it if you didn’t get it.

“We got a few chances at the end and maybe on another day you take them.

“The games are coming quick so it’s up to us to keep getting sharper and hopefully take a few of the chances.

“Wednesday was a good point and the lads did unbelievable at the weekend getting through to the final.”
