Cops hunt pair in gang attack probe
Appeal after victims injured at South Inch Pavilion
A police probe has been launched after a gang of around 15 males attacked four people in a popular Perth park.
Cops say the incident, which left one victim requiring surgery to a facial injury, happened at around 10pm on Saturday, March 6 near the South Inch Pavilion.
Police have pinpointed two members of the group they are looking to track down.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A group of four people, two men and two women, were allegedly assaulted by members of a group of about 15 males on the South Inch.
“The large group had been congregating near the tunnels, then verbally abused the victims as they walked past, before following them and attacking them.
“One of the victims sustained serious facial injuries which required surgery, and another suffered a minor facial injury.
“Although there was a large group involved, two in particular were identified as being responsible.
“The first is described as white, 6ft 2 with straight black hair and wearing a light blue Stone Island jumper at the time. The second is described as white, about 6ft, bald with a noticeably round face, wearing a hooded top.
“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.
“Information can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 4415 of March 6.”
■Meanwhile, police are also seeking witnesses to an alleged attack on a man said to have happened on a Coupar Angus street in broad daylight.
Investigating officers wish to speak to anyone who may have seen a man, believed to be in his 30s, punch a stranger in the head on Commercial Street at around 12.20pm on
Wednesday, March 3.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man was approached by a complete stranger in the street and punched in the head in an unprovoked assault. Fortunately he wasn’t injured.
“The person responsible proceeded to verbally abuse and threaten the victim before walking off.
“Officers would like to trace a man described as white, in his 30s, about 6ft in height and with short dark hair, who was wearing a fluorescent yellow workman-type jacket.”
Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is being asked to call 101 or speak with any officer. The crime reference number to quote when speaking to police is incident 1208 of March 3.
