Lock up buildings

- PAUL CARGILL

A community council has issued a reminder to residents to keep their properties and outbuildings locked up overnight after receiving reports of a lorry driving around Luncarty late at night and its occupants peering into people’s gardens.

Luncarty, Redgorton and Moneydie Community Council (LMRCC) said its members had been told the occupants of the flat bed type lorry appeared to be scouting properties in two streets off Marshall Way.

A spokesperson for the group said last week:“Information has been received regarding suspicious activity in the area in the past week.

“Overnight last Tuesday/ Wednesday, a flat bed type lorry was seen in the Hatton Place and Hatton Road area. Occupants were seen looking in and around gardens there and made off when they were disturbed.

“Residents are reminded to keep sheds and outbuildings secure and not leave items of value lying around. Consider an outside security light too.

“This kind of activity is not acceptable and is a blight on our area. Please be vigilant.”

The warning comes a week after police appealed for information regarding thefts from outbuildings at two Perthshire farms .

A number of tools, batteries and fuel cans were taken from an outbuilding at a farm off the A822 near Muthill in the early hours of Monday, March 1, while several items said to be of“great personal value”were taken from another outbuilding at a farm near Killiecrankie in the early hours of Wednesday, February 24.
