Luncarty manager Robbie Holden was keen to deal in the majority of his squad for next season - and that is exactly what he has done.

The Bleachers boss moved quickly to keep together a group that has performed impressively in the East of Scotland League.

Mike Patton, Dan Walker, Scott Mollison, Kev Sinclair, Lewis Mackie, Craig Mitchell, Kyle Mitchell, Kyle Green, Callum Kirkaldy, James Yates, Aaron Carlon, Sean Burton, Kieran Donald, Danny Dobie and Sean Fergus have all extended their stay.

“We might lose a couple with family commitments and work,”Holden admitted.

“But we should have 18 done by this week and we also have two new signings that have been agreed for next season.

“It was quite an easy job to get everyone signed up. There wasn’t an awful lot of convincing.

“They have been happy with the way things are going, have bought in to what we’re trying to do and like the progress the club is making.

“When I took over we brought six or seven players in and were looking to bulk up the squad.

“Now it’s maybe just a case of adding one or two and retaining all of the quality we’ve got.”

The East of Scotland League season remains on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic but teams were expecting news this week.

Luncarty sat second in the Conference B when action was halted, six points back of Heriot Watt University but with four games in hand.

Whatever happens moving forward - whether this season is null and void or play continues - Holden is focused on progressing further.

“If we’re in the same league again next season, it’s the same objective for us,”he said.“That is to win it and get up to the Premier League.

“We were maybe a bit of an unknown quantity at the start of this season but people know about us now.

“I think we’ll get a lot of respect from our opponents going into future games and the boys will need to rise to that.

“There won’t be any surprise element. With the potential of new clubs coming into the league, that might throw up different challenges.

“So it will probably be harder for us next year.”
