Now Coupar Angus gets COVID test hub

Mobile facility will call at car park everyThursday

-

An additional community testing site for people who do not have COVID-19 symptoms has been set up in a Perthshire hotel’s car park.

From yesterday (May 13) the mobile testing van will visit Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus every Thursday for the next six weeks.

The additional mobile testing van will be available for anyone living or working in the Coupar Angus area to get tested.

The testing site is walk-in and will be open from 10am until 4pm with no appointment required.

However, to make the process quicker, residents can book in advance and pre-register their details by phoning 119.

Tayside residents who do not have any of the three COVID symptoms - a new continuous cough, temperature, loss or change in sense of taste or smell - are encouraged to get tested at any of the sites across Tayside.

Residents have been able to collect self-administered PCR swab tests from mobile testing vans on a weekly basis from 10am to 4pm since April 12.

On Mondays the vans are located at Pitlochry Library and on Tuesdays it can be found at Aberfeldy Community Fire Station.

On Wednesdays the service makes its way to the Atholl Street car park in Dunkeld and on Thursdays to Davie

Park in Blairgowrie.

Auchterarder Fire Station is the location on Fridays and Kinross Fire Station for Saturdays.

The vans finish the tour for the week in the Fair City at the Perth Community Fire Station on Sundays.

An NHS Tayside spokesperson said: “The mobile testing units are safe and secure, with strict hygiene measures in place.

“Staff on site will support people through the testing process which involves self-administering a swab test.

“Full instructions will be provided. “Testing is quick and easy with results communicated to people by text message 24 to 48 hours after the test.

“Anyone who receives a positive PCR test result will be asked to selfisolate.

“Dedicated support is available to anyone who needs to self-isolate, including food packages and financial support.

“Further advice and information on what support is available for people who need to self-isolate is available from www.nhsinform.scot or www.taysidecares.co.uk”

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should book a test in the usual way via nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816.
