Squad update following special season

-

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson this week confirmed he is looking to have full-back James Brown back in Perth for next season.

The 23-year-old, who joined in January on loan from Millwall, will not be remaining with the English Championship club moving forward.

And Perth boss Davidson is keen to deal him in, while contract negotiations are ongoing with Scott Tanser and Michael O’Halloran.

“We will now focus on trying to bring in one or two new players for the start of the season,”Davidson said.

“We are also in discussions to bring James Brown back.

“We are all working very hard on a number of things in the background and we’ll keep our supporters updated.”

Providing a squad update, Saints confirmed Guy Melamed, Craig Conway and John Robertson have left the club at the end of their contracts.

Also leaving are youngsters Olly Hamilton, Ben Finnan, Michael McFarlane, Lennon Smith and Aiden Walsh.

Winger Glenn Middleton’s loan is up and he will return to Rangers, although Perth fans would love to see him back next season.

Davidson added:“The squad gave the football club 100 per cent and that’s why we won the cup double and qualified for Europe.

“I’d like to thank them all as they were very professional and a pleasure to manage. I wish them the very best of luck in the future.

“As a manager you need to make difficult decisions but it is part of the job.”

Two of Saints’players are on international duty this week. Ali McCann, after his special goal for Northern Ireland on Sunday, was yesterday set to line-up against Ukraine in a friendly.

And David Wotherspoon is away with Canada for two World Cup qualifiers.
