GAMES PREVIEW Far Cry far away, but it will be worth it
Far Cry 6 Various
The next instalment of fanfavourite franchise Far Cry finally has a confirmed release date after being delayed by the pandemic.
Far Cry 6 will land on — deep breath now — PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series S/X, Windows, Stadia and Amazon Luna on October 7, Ubisoft has revealed.
It was originally pencilled in for a February release but fate got in the way...
In any event, it certainly appears like it will be worth the wait.
Set in Yara, a fictional tropical paradise frozen in time in the heart of the Caribbean, players will experience the adrenaline rush and chaos of guerrilla combat.
Join the revolution to liberate Yara from the rule of dictator
Anton Castillo and his son Diego — played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad’s Gus Fring) and Anthony Gonzalez (Coco).
As local military dropout Dani Rojas, players will be swept up in the guerrilla movement as the brutality of Anton’s rule reaches new heights and the fire of revolution ignites.
Players will be able to choose to play Dani as female or male, and will join forces with a colourful cast of characters. You’ll have an arsenal made up of everything from DIY guerilla-style weapons like a motorcycle engine-powered minigun or homing missilethrowing backpack, to traditional firearms, and can use new ways to traverse the world such as horses, tanks and crazy DIY vehicles.
We’ll find out more at Ubisoft’s E3 presentation on June 12.
