Sponsorship boost for boxer Luke

-

A sponsorship boost has boxer Luke Bibby determined to continue his rise up the ladder.

The Perth Railway Boxing Club member has received backing from Fair City-based clothing recycling company Cash4Clothes.

And he is determined to repay the kind gesture by building on a promising career in the sport.

The 20-year-old, thanking Cash4Clothes, said:“There are travelling and training expenses that people don’t see. It all adds up.

“So this is really appreciated and they are really helping me out.

“There have been tracksuits made up and I’ll have their logo on all of my gear.”

Luke, who is involved with Boxing Scotland’s elite group, recently returned from the Socikos multi-nation tournament in Lithuania.

“I was in Ukraine and then in Lithuania a couple of weeks ago for a tournament,”Luke said.

“I lost out in the quarters but I thought I should have got the decision. I think that was the general perception.

“I was unlucky but unless you knock your opponent out, you are always leaving it in the judges’ hands.

“I’m now away down to Sheffield at the Team GB gym and that will be good sparring for me.

“After Sheffield, I’m not sure. You just need to stay ready because everything is last minute with COVID-19.”

The end goal remains the same for Luke – and that is to reach the very top of boxing.

“I feel I’m constantly getting better, constantly improving and constantly getting closer to my goals,”he said.“I’m working extremely hard.

“I’m through to Glasgow three or four times a week. It’s a lot of time but it’s worth it in the end.

“The Commonwealth Games is still the main goal next year. I just need to keep going and keep pushing.”
