Beach volleyball sessions atDarnhall

-

Perth and Kinross youngsters have another opportunity to get a taste of beach volleyball this weekend.

The junior development programme, fronted up by Scottish Volleyball, returns to the Darnhall facility in Craigie on Sunday morning.

It will be the second of a series of introductory coaching sessions which are also being replicated across the country.

The aim of the programme is to dramatically increase the number of young players participating in the fun sport over the next few years, creating playing opportunities at local, regional, national and international levels.

Youngsters who show a talent for the sport will have the chance to play firstly for Perth and Kinross, secondly for Central Scotland before progressing to national competitions and becoming part of the UK Beach Tour events.

For this Sunday’s 10am until 1pm session, head over to scottishvolleyball.azolve. com to register by 4pm on Friday, June 11 (today).

A Perth Beach Volleyball Club spokesperson said there has already been strong interest from both boys and girls.

And there is further good news for the club looking ahead to the summer.

Chair Dave Munro said: “The Darnhall facility has been privileged to have been selected for two UK adult beach tour events, with a three-star event taking place on June 26/27 and a four-star event on July 31/August 1.

“This will give adults as well as youngsters the chance to see the UK’s top players competing for ranking points ahead of Birmingham’s Commonwealth Games next summer.”
