East Perthshire residents will be given a chance to have their say on plans for Blairgowrie’s longawaited new recreation centre later this week.
Perth and Kinross Council is hosting an online consultation event in relation to the flagship Beeches Road facility from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 7.
A special website has been created to allow people to express their views on the delayed £24 million project, which was originally due to open in June last year but is now scheduled to be completed in November 2023.
A letter flagging up the consultation was circulated to residents in the town last week.
The document, issued by Edinburgh-based firm Orbit Communications on behalf of the local authority, states:“Perth and Kinross Council is excited to bring forward proposals for the erection of a sports facility with swimming pool, external sports pitch, vehicular access, parking, landscaping and associated works at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre ...”
It adds:“The development team has formally submitted a proposal of application notice (PAN) to Perth and Kinross Council, informing it that it intends to submit a planning application for the development following a minimum 12-week consultation period.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with Scottish Government guidelines in relation to major planning applications, our website will host a live, online consultation event in place of the holding of public exhibitions which have been temporarily suspended.
“Exhibition material, detailing the proposed development, will be uploaded on the website on June 30 ahead of the consultation event on July 7.
“Our development team will be available to answer questions through a dedicated chat system on the same day between 4pm and 7pm.
“You can register interest at hello@ pkcblairgowrie.scot
“This will inform our planning application for the development of the site.
“If you do not have online access, hard copies of exhibition materials can be accessed ...”
