Gleneagles Hotel Beatrix Potter-themed days are sure to be everyone’s cup of tea

-

An iconic Perthshire hotel has launched an afternoon tea that celebrates one of the world’s most popular children’s writers while helping the local environment.

Gleneagles hopes its Beatrix Potter-themed experience will delight both children and adults.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit author Potter spent her childhood summers in the Perthshire countryside where she is said to have developed her love of botany. Dedicated to her affection for the local surrounds, the newly introduced menu pays homage to her hugely popular story books and much-adored characters including Little Pig Robinson, Mr McGregor, Squirrel Nutkin and Peter Rabbit, who celebrates his 120th birthday in 2022.

A donation of 50p for every afternoon tea sold will be made to Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust’s Perthshire Big Tree Country scheme.

The Beatrix Potter afternoon tea will be served Friday to Monday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm in the Glendevon, where guests can relax and unwind in one of the hotel’s most serene spaces.

The menu will be available until December with a short break for Christmas festivities before it returns early next year. It is priced at £50 per adult and £25 for children aged 10 and under. Booking is essential.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit is one of the world’s best-loved children’s books and was created by Beatrix Potter in 1902. The story has never been out of print since it was first published and has sold in excess of 45 million copies globally.
