Taste of success as Perth deli is just one of four to lift prize
A Perth deli has been chosen as one of just four retailers in Scotland to be commended at the 2021 Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards.
Provender Brown Delicatessen in George Street, Perth, was picked from a shortlist of 153 outstanding UK speciality retailers for the honour.
The 2021 awards changed the judging criteria this year to shine the spotlight on those retailers who deserve recognition for their courageous commitment shown to their customers, community, staff and suppliers during lockdown.
Provender Brown impressed the judges with its dedication to customers old and new during lockdown.
One judge said:“First class service, extended opening hours and home delivery with investment in IT to support a range of extensions. Superb customer communications resulting in wonderful customer references, and all delivered by such a small team – WOW!”
Another said:“A definite textbook response on how a local independent deli could have responded to COVID-19; this established business has a very loyal customer base who they continued to serve going every step of the way and beyond. Nice support of the NHS, delivering lunches.”
Diane Brown, owner of the independent deli, which has been based on Perth’s George Street for over 16 years, said:“We are thrilled to bits to have been announced as a commended retailer particularly as our place on the original shortlist was a result of many of our lovely customers taking time to send personal feedback.
“To have been chosen as one of only four in the Scotland is marvellous and I am especially pleased that our amazing team received a big‘WOW’from the judges.
“Everyone worked really hard to ensure we could help all of our customers during lockdown, not just those who could make it to the shop, and this award recognises their efforts.”
