Fond farewell to Session House ‘driving force’
A popular Perthshire development worker has stepped down from the role.
Petrina Menzies (left) first volunteered at Kirkmichael Session House 16 years ago.
During her time, the centre has evolved and grown in what it offers.
She has been the driving force behind popular activities such as knitting group Clicking Needles and a fortnightly drop-in.
Her enthusiasm and approachability helped to build up the Session House to play an important part in the community, and she has played a central role in all that has happened, creating innovative projects, supporting users, and giving her all to the role.
As lockdown restrictions are gradually being reduced and removed, the management committee hope to be able to hold some kind of event to mark their appreciation of all that Petrina has done.
The Session House has had to evolve and change over the years since it opened in 2002 and with the impetus brought by COVID-19 and the move towards a far greater element of online activities, there is a correspondingly greater need for computer expertise in the Session House activities.
The new post of community engagement worker which is now being advertised will build on the foundations already laid but will also look at innovative ways to expand into new areas, while remaining people-centred in what the Session House offers.
