PITLOCHRY

-

It was a full house on May 24 when the SWI committee held its first face-to-face meeting since last year to discuss the way forward.

The results of a second survey showed a change of heart by members and friends since the 2020 survey. This time, the majority of members indicated that they would prefer a social group with no links to the SWI.

Evelyn Scobie, president of Perth and Kinross Federation, expressed her disappointment when informed of this decision.

A few members would like to retain their links with the organisation and Kathleen Scott will contact HQ to clarify the situation about members retaining individual membership.

Also, the procedure for closing the institute will be investigated.

There was a discussion about items owned by Pitlochry SWI, such as crockery and trophies. Some trophies could be returned to the donors and others perhaps donated to the local heritage centre.

A record of the memorabilia in our possession with a note of its location will be drawn up for future reference.

Betty Stark gave an update on the finances which will cover the payment of all present members subscriptions to SWI Federation and HQ for the past COVID year.

A letter of thanks had been received from Pitlochry Town Hall Group for the donation from Pitlochry SWI towards the refurbishment of the town hall kitchen.

An afternoon tea will be held as a final meeting of Pitlochry SWI. Date, time and

place to be decided as COVID restrictions allow.

A competition will be held to choose a name for the social group. The possible starting date for the new group is pencilled in for September 16 by which time it is hoped a venue will become available.

Keep your eyes peeled ladies for the re- incarnation of Pitlochry SWI.
