Festival to bring lots of energy to palace

-

Science will take centre stage at a festival in Perthshire later this month.

The Energy Festival at Scone Palace will showcase everything from catapults and volcanoes to fake snow.

Dundee Science Centre is heading up the Inspire zone at this month’s sports and outdoor adventure festival in Perth, aiming to reunite friends and families while supporting businesses linked to health recovery and resilience.

Organised by Perth brothers Chris and Elliott Brown, the event hopes to attract over 5000 attendees on each day of the weekend of August 14 and August 25.

Sponsored by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution, the Inspire zone will give visitors the chance to get stuck into an array of interactive activities and experiments.

Carlene Cura, development and fundraising advisor at Dundee Science Centre, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be heading up the Inspire zone where visitors of all ages can get immersed in some brilliant hands-on experiments and demos.

“Families and friends have been waiting for an event like this for so long and the Energy Festival will be a brilliant environment to have a go, compete and enjoy some brilliant inspirational activities out in the fresh air.

“Try out our infrared camera, cool down with some fake snow or get creative with some ‘make and take’ activities. Groups of friends and family also love competing so we’ve lined up lots of challenges with the chance to win free tickets to come back and see us at Dundee Science Centre in the weeks ahead.”

In addition to the Inspire zone, the twoday event, aimed at people of all ages and abilities, will include adventure, challenge and wellbeing zones. Activities will range from cooking with commando chef, bushcraft, quad pod rides and fishing to mountain biking, tug of war, electric bike hire, yoga, colour run and inflatable obstacles.

Other local businesses involved over the course of the weekend include Willowgate Activity Centre, Triathlon

Scotland and Action Glen to name a few, who are providing kayaking, bushcraft, laser quest, duathlon and many more ‘have a go’ activities.
