GAMES PREVIEW Vanguard’s taking COD to next level

-

Call Of Duty is heading back to World War Two for the game’s next big-budget entry.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard promises to deliver the usual high-quality package of campaign, online multiplayer and zombies co-operative modes.

Once again the team at Sledgehammer Games — who you might recall made Call Of Duty: WWII in 2017 — are back leading development, and they’re again taking players with them for another war-torn campaign.

This outing will showcase the origins of Special Forces operatives, as players engage in a sprawling storyline that will span the Eastern and Western fronts of Europe, the Pacific and North Africa.

Once you’re done with the game’s latest storyline you’ll have 20 multiplayer maps to immerse yourself in and a“franchise-first Zombies crossover”, although what that entails isn’t clear yet.

Beyond this, as is now the norm, there will also be full integration with Activision’s free-to-play Call Of Duty: Warzone Battle Royale.

Arguably one of the biggest pieces of news though is related to a new piece of tech, with plans to launch anti-cheat software alongside the release of the game.

As ardent Call Of Duty players might know, hackers have become an increasing problem. To put it into context, to date it’s believed that developers have banned 650,000 Warzone accounts.

The game’s new mode Champion Hill, which sees teams (2v2 or 3v3) competing in a round robin-style death match tournament against other squads.

You can catch it in November.
