Recycling binshave been moved
Possibly the most inaccessible recycling bins in the country have been readjusted.
The glass recycling containers in Blairgowrie not only seemed virtually impossible to use but dangerous as users potentially had to reach past broken shards of glass.
Residents had to squeeze between the massive drums in the Perthshire town’s Croft Lane car park to recycle their jars and bottles.
Earlier this week Blairgowrie and Glens councillor Caroline Shiers posted this picture of clothes dumped at the site on Facebook.
The Conservative councillor said it was “disappointing” to see the clothes dumped next to the full textiles recycling container.
She said: “There are other places around the town to recycle textiles until this can be cleared up.”
But while the clothing recycling point might be currently full it is at least accessible.
Facebook followers were quick to point to the issue accessing the glass recycling containers at the car park.
One responded: “You cannot use them that way around without squeezing in.”
Cllr Shiers told the PA: “I think that additional bins had been put there hence why they had been repositioned but it is clear that presented logistical issues.
“The bigger issue was that people have dumped waste at the side of the bins which we would really ask people not to do as it is a health and safety risk as well as unsightly.”
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said:“The recycling containers have since been repositioned to assist with access.
“We will alert the organisation that provides the textile bank that the container now requires emptying.”
