New venture serves up healthy meals

- MATTHEW GALLAGHER

A new city centre business venture is encouraging healthy eating and active lifestyles.

Macrotrition opened its High Street doors at the beginning of last month and is already proving popular.

An idea“born out of the pandemic”, owner Jack Parr was determined to play his part in providing the Fair City with a unique service.

The former Perth Grammar student has teamed-up with co-owner and chef Bartek Habera to offer a wide range of healthy drinks and nutritious meals.

Coffees, smoothies, smoothie bowls, pancakes, crepes, lean meals, gainer meals, make your own meals, as well as vegan and vegetarian options, are all on the menu.

“As a personal trainer I witnessed first-hand the challenges my clients were facing to keep fit and stay healthy at home during lockdown,”Jack (23) explained.

“Many were bored of cooking yet didn’t want to feast on unhealthy takeaways.

“Knowing the importance of fuelling your body correctly to feel good, and to be able to achieve a healthier lifestyle, I spotted a gap in the market for healthy ready-made, fresh meals.

“So Bartek and I joined forces to bring nutritious, hassle free, and affordable restaurant quality meals to people across Perth.

“We initially started online with home deliveries but demand for our meals grew and we made the decision to open a shop on Perth’s High Street to be able to cater for more customers.”

Jack was keen to note that Macrotrition is a “supportive place”with the aim of making people feel better both inside and out.

“Our goal is simple – it’s to make healthy food more accessible,”he said.

“Unfortunately we live in a world where takeaway meals are predominantly unhealthy. We want to change that.

“Healthy eating doesn’t need to be boring and difficult. All our tasty dishes are labelled with the amount of calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates.”

Jack says the support from the Perthshire community, both in person at the shop and on social media, has been“fantastic”.

Local sportspeople - including St

Johnstone star Liam Gordon - have even come on board to select‘athletes choice’ meals.

“We can’t thank our customers enough,” smiled Jack.

“We’ve loved every minute of serving customers, talking them through our menu, listening to their feedback and innovating recipes with local produce.”

Orders can be made online via Macrotrition’s Facebook or Instagram page.
