No flumes but pool reopening on course

Swimmers welcomed on Oct 11

- KATHRYN ANDERSON

Perth Leisure Pool remains on track to reopen on October 11 with swimming lessons restarting a fortnight later.

But while all the venue’s pools will reopen, Live Active Leisure has announced a delay with the availability of its flumes and wild water feature.

The announcement was made on Perth Leisure Pool’s Facebook page.

Live Active Leisure confirmed the popular facility would reopen almost 19 months since it was forced to close in March 2020 because of the COVID pandemic.

The facility then suffered significant flooding during last August’s thunderstorms.

It was scheduled to reopen this month but an unforeseen electrical issue caused a setback to those plans.

Last week Live Active confirmed it was on course to finally reopen at the start of the October school holidays - much to the delight of many.

The update read: “The reinstatement work continues, and we are pleased to update that Perth Leisure Pool remains on course to reopen on Monday, October 11.

“From October 11 and during the school holidays the venue will be open daily from 10am - 6pm. All pools including the main leisure water, training pool, outdoor lagoon and children’s pool - will reopen, as well as the Monkey Jungle, whirlpools, gym and health suite.

“Regrettably, there is a delay to the availability of the flumes, wild water and some other features and these will come online later in the month.

“A full programme of activities will commence from October 25 including swimming lessons so keep an eye on our information pages for more details over the coming weeks.”
